48 players for Team Uganda trials summoned

Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) has summoned 48 players for Team Uganda trials.

Team Uganda will compete at the 8th Woodball World Cup between July 24 and 30, 2018 at Chiangdao, Thailand.

Team Uganda has been at four (4) Woodball World Cups since 2010 with the support of the Government and the Embassy of China in Uganda.


Lillian Zawedde and Onesmus Atamba won gold in the mixed doubles at the previous edition in Korea, 2016. Team Uganda (Men) finished 3rd overall.

Team Uganda will be comprised of 6 men and 6 women who will be the best from the two trials.

The 1st Team Uganda trial is on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole between 9 am and 12 noon.

St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi will host the 2nd and final trial on Saturday, March 17, 2018

The 6th UWbF Awards Gala

Uganda Woodball Federation will hold the 6th UWbF Awards Gala on Saturday, February 03, 2018 at Cooper Chimney Restaurant, Lugogo starting at 6:00 pm.

The Gala is organized to recognize and reward the best athletes, coaches, media personnel and sponsors from the 2017 Woodball Season.


The award categories include:

  1. Beach Woodball Circuits (Corporates and Seniors)
  2. Corporate Woodball Circuits
  3. Sponsors
  4. Coaches
  5. Media
  6. MVPs

Winners in the Beach and Corporate categories are based on the points accumulated from the respective circuits played.

Sponsor categorization is based on the amount of funding an individual or organization extended to the activities of UWbF.

The Best Coaches for both Juniors and Seniors Teams will be rewarded on the basis of how their teams performed during the year. The Best Coach – Juniors award is a new category this year.

The media personnel (TV, Print, Radio and Online) are determined by the UWbF Publicity Commission with guidance from the Awards Gala Organizing Committee. The individuals or media houses are assessed on the basis of their dedication to publicizing the activities of the Federation.

The MVP nominees in their respective categories are based on individual performance in all competitions organized by UWbF in 2017.

Chinese Ambassador’s visit to UWbF

The month of February ended on a high with a visit from the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda. In his visit the Amb’ toured several of woodball’s establishments including the administrative offices, our show room, and the woodball equipment factory at Ndejje Luweero district.

In his speech while on the tour the Amb’ promised support to the woodball game development in Uganda and Africa. UWbF is in the process of acquiring much better machinery which can produce at least 50 sets of woodball playing equipment per day. With that in mind the Amb’s visit came at a time when it was most needed.
