Uganda set to host a successful 2019 World Cup

Uganda Woodball Federation President Mark Paul Kayongo is confident that they will be able to host a successful beach Woodball world cup. The event is slated for May this year and will be hosted at Spennah Beach, Entebbe.

The International Woodball Federation confirmed Uganda as hosts for this year’s showpiece in November at the assembly that was held in Taiwan. Over 21 Federations out of the 26 voted Uganda to beat Thailand.

Kayongo during the Annual general meeting held at the federation’s headquarters said that preparations are on and believes that before the competition kicks off in May they will be ready to host the event.

“Preparations to host the Beach Woodball world cup have kicked off and we have put up committees to see that we host a successful competition.”

National Council for Sports has promised to put a hand in our preparations and I also thank the Chinese Embassy who have been supportive to us in this course.”

Kayongo also promised that the Federation will be supportive to the players to see that they put up masterclass performances.

“We shall help our players to put up a great performance, we don’t want to host for others, we are one of the most competitive Nations in this game in the whole world.” Last year, we managed to finish second in the tournament that was held in China.”

He stated during the annual general meeting at the federation’s headquarters.

NCS assistant secretary general David Ssemakula Katende hailed UWBF administration for helping in boosting the game both domestically and internationally. He also promised to that NCS will continue to give support to the Woodball Federation.

“I thank the administration of UWBF for boosting the game both domestically and on the international scene. I believe their organization will be key in helping the game succeed.”

We shall also continue to give support to the Federation since it is one of the most organized games governing bodies in the country.”

The Federation also released a budget of over 700m which will be used this year. Last year a budget of 500m was used by the Federation and also managed to get support from NCS estimated at 295m in 2018. At the same function the calendar for this year’s event was also officially unveiled.
