On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, the lush fields of Ndejje University once again played host to the prestigious 14th Ndejje University Woodball Open Championship—one of Uganda’s most anticipated woodball events in the academic sports calendar.
A Day of Competitive Spirit and Growth
The championship brought together some of the most prominent institutions and clubs in Uganda’s woodball scene. Among the participants were:
Kampala University
Ndejje University (the host institution)
Kampala International University (KIU)
Makerere University
Uganda Prisons Woodball Club
- Ministry of Public Service
Additionally, several junior woodball clubs were present, reflecting the Federation’s continued efforts to nurture young talent and expand the sport’s footprint across all age categories.
While some of the junior clubs had concluded their matches earlier in the day, their presence added depth and vibrancy to the event, proving that woodball is thriving not only in universities and corporate institutions, but also among the youth.
A Legacy Tournament
As the 14th edition, the Ndejje University Open continues to grow in significance—not just as a competitive platform, but as a space for mentorship, exposure, and inter-institutional engagement. With strong representation from universities, correctional institutions, and youth clubs, the championship is fast becoming a launchpad for future national players.
What’s Next?
While final rankings and stroke scores from the event are yet to be published, the day’s high turnout and sportsmanship point toward a successful outing and continued momentum for the Uganda Woodball Federation.
The Federation extends its appreciation to Ndejje University for its consistent commitment to woodball, and to all the participating teams for making the 14th edition a memorable one.
