The 4th World Cup Beach Woodball Championship 2025 successfully concluded in Rayong,
Thailand, from September 7 to 12, 2025.
We extend our gratitude to all the players and officials who represented Uganda in the global
championship.
And Special appreciation to Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel who was the leader of delegation.
Dr. Ogwel who is the General Secretary National Council of sports pledged more support to
UWBF annual budget and promised support to more woodball international activities.
Uganda was the only African country that participated in World Cup
Despite the hash morning rainy days and hot humid climate later in the day, the team
performed well and won a silver and two bronze medals.
Thomas Khedi won a silver in fairway singles men and Jackline Naula a bronze.
Naula later with Christine Birungi also won a bronze in the women doubles.
Our president Paul Mark Kayongo was awarded a gold medal for his contributions to the
sport.
Mr. Kayongo is also the vice president of the international woodball Federation in charge of
Africa.
Uganda finished fourth overall in the behind winners Thailand who were the host, Indonesia
and China Taipei.
Thailand Woodball president Dr. Patanachart Kridibwon also appreciated our team coach Onesimus Atamba with a medal. Our team was accommodated in a four-Star Novotel Hotel ion Rayong Municipal city thanks to president Mark Kayongo’s efforts. All the players and officials received their allowances and I am humbled to inform you that
the Uganda delegation returned home safely.
We are now going to focus on the implementation of national calendar and strengthening of all the structures. This includes, formation of different commissions, accreditation of associations, accreditation of all players and officials. This will help us run and grow the sport in a professional manner.
