Seventh President’s Woodball Championships: Emphasizing the Growth of Junior and Senior Teams
This year’s Seventh President’s Woodball Championships marked a significant milestone for the Uganda Woodball Federation as we saw enthusiastic participation from both the junior and senior teams. Our president, Paul Mark Kayongo, emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent to ensure the sustainable growth of woodball in Uganda.
“We are immensely motivated by the participation of our junior team this year,” President Kayongo stated. “We firmly believe that the future of woodball lies in the hands of our young players. Developing the junior teams is crucial as they are the foundation upon which the sport will grow and thrive.”
The inclusion of junior teams in the championships underscores our commitment to fostering the sport at all levels. The juniors had the opportunity to compete alongside senior players, gaining invaluable experience and inspiration. This integration not only helps in skill development but also in building a strong sense of community and sportsmanship among players of all ages.
Our senior team members, with their experience and dedication, continue to set high standards and act as role models for the younger players. The interaction between juniors and seniors during the championships provided a unique learning environment, where young talents could observe and learn from seasoned players.
The Uganda Woodball Federation remains dedicated to promoting woodball across all age groups. By focusing on junior development, we aim to create a continuous pipeline of skilled players who will represent Uganda on national and international stages.
The Seventh President’s Woodball Championships was not just a competition; it was a celebration of the sport’s growth and the potential it holds for the future. We look forward to more such events that bring together players of all ages and skill levels, united by their passion for woodball.
