After making it to the national woodball team, teenage star Precious Namubiru has shifted her focus to winning Uganda a medal at the World Cup. The 14-year-old Senior Three student at Our Lady of Africa Namilyango is excited about being part of Team Uganda for the 9th Edition of the Woodball World Cup in China this October.

Namubiru will represent the country in the Women’s team, which includes Jackie Naula, Joan Mukoova, Sandra Nabaggala, Noeline Babirye, Lillian Zawedde, Sanyu Mirembe, Alverah Mukamirinda, and Joyce Nalubega.

Namubiru was inspired to play woodball in 2022 during her Senior One by a former housemate at St. Agnes Naggalama Primary, Charity Nansasi, whom she met at Our Lady of Africa Namilyango School. Upon being named on the team, Namubiru expressed her excitement: “I am very excited. I feel very good to represent my country at the World Cup, but it is also a very big challenge because I have to work hard and win Uganda a medal.”

She also admitted that she has a big task of balancing her academics and training to stay in form so that she performs well in the competitions.
