Uganda Prisons have won their second Kyambogo Open Woodball Championship title with a three-stroke advantage over Ndejje Corporates. Ndejje University finished a back-to-back victory in the women’s category with 555 combined strokes, three better than Makerere University Business School. Last year’s silver medallists, Kampala University, were third.

Prisons, the 2021 champions, held a commanding 11-stroke lead over Ndejje Corporates after the first round. However, a light afternoon drizzle dramatically altered conditions at the challenging Kyambogo Peace Park, erasing their substantial advantage.

“We’re no longer going to win easily. Teams have reinforced and we’re now facing formidable opponents,” Ariho conceded.

According to newly named captain Davis Wabusa, it was the Prisons’ team’s relentless fighting spirit that propelled them to victory.

“We knew the mission was to win the trophy. This is a huge motivation to the team and we all played for each other,” Wabusa said.
